The EmpowerHer Future Programme is Ese-Tonia Foundation’s flagship initiative designed to equip widows with marketable skills, business training, and long-term mentorship to achieve financial independence and improved wellbeing. Developed from a 2025 needs assessment of military widows at the Sam Ethnan Air Force Base, the programme responds to key findings: widows possess skills but lack capital, tools, and structured support to generate sustainable income.
Implemented twice yearly, each cohort undergoes a five-month cycle combining vocational training, digital and financial literacy, entrepreneurship development, and post-training support. Graduates receive startup kits, business mentorship, and access to the Empowered Women Connect alumni network for ongoing learning and emotional support.
The programme is driven by a dedicated implementation team, supported by approved trainers and vendors, and monitored through a structured MEL framework focusing on income growth, start-up creation, and long-term impact.
Long-term goals include establishing a Widows Skills & Enterprise Centre, strengthening CSR partnerships, and scaling the programme nationwide.
Overall, EmpowerHer Future aims to transform widows into economically secure, confident, and self-reliant women.
